Moebeus Società Benefit is an innovative Italian company founded in 2021 that combines sustainability, technology, and social regeneration. Based in Tuscany, Moebeus supports organizations, companies, and institutions in transitioning toward models that integrate positive impact with technological innovation, placing the well-being of people and the planet at the center.

Technologies for culture and human experience

In recent years, Moebeus has experimented with solutions that integrate artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and immersive technologies to create new forms of interaction among people, knowledge, and digital environments. These experiences now represent the foundation of expertise that the company brings to European research and innovation projects.

A significant example is the application of artificial intelligence in the cultural and museum sector, developed within a project with the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti of Genoa. In this context, the artificial intelligence software Algho, developed by QuestIT, with which Moebeus has an established partnership, was integrated into a mobile robot to create a conversational virtual assistant capable of welcoming visitors, guiding them through the exhibition, answering questions in real time, collecting feedback, and personalizing the experience according to users’ preferences.

The solution was tested at the Museum of Ligurian Archaeology, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can improve accessibility and inclusivity in the museum experience while facilitating cultural mediation, making heritage more understandable, interactive, and accessible to visitors.

Moebeus has also explored the potential of immersive technologies for environmental education and awareness. On the occasion of the Innovation Village at The Ocean Race – The Grand Finale in Genoa 2023, the company presented an immersive experience that allowed visitors to directly experience the effects of climate change on coral reefs by embodying a coral, a hermit crab, or a sea turtle.

The experience was built upon the virtual environment Envisioning Corals, designed and developed within the MIBTEC (Mind and Behavior Technological Center) at the Department of Psychology of the University of Milano-Bicocca, created in collaboration with researchers from the Politecnico di Milano and the Marine Research and High Education Center. Building on this environment, a serious game was developed and enhanced through the use of WEART’s haptic gloves, which allow users to touch objects within the virtual reality environment.

A human-centric approach to technology

These initiatives reflect the core of Moebeus’ approach: integrating advanced technologies through a human-centric perspective, where artificial intelligence and virtual environments become tools that foster learning, inclusion, and participation. The goal is not simply to introduce new technologies, but to design meaningful digital experiences capable of supporting people in processes of knowledge, training, and change.

These experiences form the foundation of the expertise that Moebeus contributes to the European project EMPAIRED – Empathic AI and XR for Ergonomic Education.

The project aims to develop a virtual reality training environment for operators working with machinery that requires repetitive tasks, with the goal of improving ergonomic awareness and helping workers perform their activities while maintaining correct postures, thus protecting their health and safety.

Within the European consortium, which includes DeepReality and the Santa Chiara FabLab of the University of Siena, Moebeus contributes to the development and integration of an AI virtual assistant that supports users during the immersive experience. The virtual reality system developed by DeepReality is enriched by a conversational AI assistant based on Algho, the proprietary platform developed by QuestIT, designed to guide operators during the simulation, provides contextual instructions, and reinforce the learning of correct ergonomic behaviors.

In this framework, the Santa Chiara FabLab of the University of Siena, which coordinates the project, leads the integration of technological research with social dimensions and defines the scientific methodology for the experimental evaluation of the virtual environment developed within the project.

Through the collaborative work of the partners, EMPAIRED aims to develop an innovative training tool capable of concretely increasing operators’ awareness of correct ergonomic behaviors, contributing to the prevention of injuries and the promotion of safer and healthier working conditions.
